Course Assessment

There is no end of course examination.  You will be assessed on an on-going basis through your performance during your school experiences and through written coursework and computerised tests.

QTS

Formative assessments are made throughout and are summed up at four Assessment Points through the year.

These are based on trainee evidence posted against the Teachers' 'Q' standards in the CTG e-portfolio (Paragon).  This evidence is validated by Subject Mentors and moderated by the Assessment Officer and QA Manager.

Assignments and Tasks

Each Trainee requires to submit three GPS assignments and three GPS tasks over the academic year.

Assignments are marked according to rigorous HE standards and each one must be passed.

Tasks are equally important from the point of view of learning but their use in assessment consists of their being filed as evidence against appropriate standards.

Subject Tasks

Three subject related tasks and five subject knowledge presentations are set during the year.  These contribute to assessment by being filed against the 'Q' standards.

QTS Tests

You are required to pass skills test in numeracy, literacy and ICT.

The tests are computerised and can be taken at any of the approximately 150 test centres throughout the UK.

You must pass all three QTS Skills Tests to be awarded Qualified Teacher Status.
